Braves Impress in Quad Scrimmage

The first offensive snap in Saturday mornings quad scrimmage was sailed over QB Alec Bennets head, the second; a false start penalty. However the rough start was not a sign of things to come as Shawnee's offense did well versus Belmont, Oakwood and West Liberty-Salem. Turnovers were non-existent as the Braves offense worked quickly and efficiently, Bennet showed great pocket-presence finding secondary receivers Tyler Tucker and Michael Guyer frequently.
Tyler Tucker was especially impressive on both sides of the ball making great tackles on defense and breaking tackles on offense; scoring a TD on a catch and run where he spun out of the final tackle and galloped into the end zone. Back-Up running back Josh Nelson showed great vision and quickness filling in for injured Zach Avery however Nelson couldn't continue after suffering an injury early in the scrimmage.
There were many questions about the Braves defense with the loss of Wade Smiddy, however the defense showed many positive signs out on the Shawnee practice field. The D-Line penetrated well as the run was stopped consistently by the Braves. The struggles for the Braves D was through the air as a few pass plays led to TD's.
Overall it was a positive day for Shawnee as the August 28th opener approaches quickly. This team has an edge and is ready to bounce back from a disappointing 2014 season. Remember you can catch all the action on Braves Sports Network.
SHAWNEE STANDOUT PLAYER: Tyler Tucker(SR)
EYE ON THE FUTURE: (SO) Will Finch who is a starting CB on first team D showed some serious speed in the JV portion of the scrimmage scoring an untouched TD around the edge as QB.
